arbitrary presents the third evening of a new series of events in KoncertKirken, Copenhagen (DK) with an unusual concert format, combining live performances with a collective listening session.
The concert will feature a live performance by Berlin-based musician Andrew Pekler, who works with techniques of digital sampling and analog synthesis to recontextualize found sounds and archival musical materials. His latest work, Tristes Tropiques is an album of synthetic exotica, pseudo-ethnographic music and unreal field recordings. Andrew Pekler has composed music for theater, dance and film, produced video and sound installations and played concerts and festivals in Europe, North and South America, East Asia and Australia.
Live + Listening Room #3 is presented in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Dänemark and the G((o))ng Tomorrow festival (formerly Wundergrund).

Andrew Pekler works with techniques of digital sampling and analog synthesis to recontextualize found sounds and archival musical materials. His latest work, Tristes Tropiques is an album of synthetic exotica, pseudo-ethnographic music and unreal field recordings. On previous albums, Pekler has electronically investigated the emotional sweep and grain of easy listening music, prepared pianos with mobile telephones, composed an entire album from text descriptions each track, and installed a record shop in an art gallery in order to sell one record with 300 different covers.
Andrew Pekler has composed music for theater, dance and film, produced video and sound installations and played concerts and festivals in Europe, North and South America, East Asia and Australia. His 2011 album Sentimental Favourites received the Qwartz Electronic Music Award for best album.
